Eighth child of Judge Andrew and Esther Clevenger Bryant. He married Eva Lydia McBee in 1933. To this union three children were born: Carol June Bryant, Loyd Kemron Bryant and Curtis Michael Bryant. He was a farmer all his life and was ordained as minister of the Primitive Baptist Church in the 1950s. He pastored Log Creek Church until his death.
